Vilac Bingo Buffon's Zoological Garden

Loto is a traditional game, also known as Bingo. The principle of the game is simple. Children take their loto game cards and then draw numbers one by one. The winner is the one who fills their card first. This game helps children practice observation, vocabulary, and logical thinking. This game was developed in collaboration with the National Museum of Natural History in Paris, Museum national d'Histoire naturelle. The collaboration between Vilac and the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle (National Museum of Natural History) is a novelty of 2023. Georges-Louis Leclerc, Count of Buffon (1707-1788), was the intendant of the Royal Botanical Garden of France for nearly 50 years, from 1739 until his death. His work Histoire naturelle (Natural History), in 36 illustrated volumes, was extraordinarily successful immediately upon publication. The animals contained in the book were an inspiration for the visual arts, fashion, decor, educational works, and children's books. This is evidenced by the Buffon memory game, an illustrated game published around 1840 in Paris. The memory game with 96 animals on 24 cards was made by Nicolas Fleuri Jannin. A reproduced copy is stored in the National Museum of Natural History in Paris.
